What is wrong here?

So I went out of town for maybe 48 hours, and my male has never had a real strong appetite but now he will only eat maybe 4-5 pellets and he eats them really slow, and most of the food comes out of his gills. I am thinking possibly a parasite? So do you guys think I should switch him for the fish that I have in my 20, and treat him in the 20?

3 1/2 inch flowerhorn on mini size pellets. I know the size isn't an issue it's the fish. He use to eat way more

It's possible but he use to chow down on the pellets like he would jump out of the water to get them haha

If his stomach is bloated & white stringy poop coming out, could be parasitic problem. If he's still eating, I wouldn't worry too much. I'd use Prazipro to deworm him just in case.

Oh ok, no white poop or bloat, eats blood worms like a champ but very little interest in his usual pellets

Sounds like he's gotten a taste for something he likes better. When mine becomes a picky eater, I would not feed them for a day or two then try again...when they're hungry enough & they're healthy, they'll have to eat. Whereas some will eat everything you give them, others become picky & will wait for the better tasting grub...just like some people.

^Agreed. One of mine does that alot, if I feed him bw for 3 consecutive days he loses the taste for pellets, after a day of fasting, he starts eating everything I give him again.

The funny thing is he hasn't eatin for 2 days because I was out of town.
