A while ago I've had an oscar go through something similar (sporadic eating to not eating anything for at least 2 months), after eventually losing him and learning the hard way with a few new dead fish it all came down to the rocks I've had in the tank, that started rusting in the low ph, never had that problem with high ph and same rocks for more than 3 or 4 years while keeping africans.
