What is wrong with my male jack dempsey?

Swimming around pretty fine but it isn't eating. It might be me but I think it's swimming slower than usual. He still darts with the rest of the fish if I get up and cast my shadow on the tank.
Doesn't look like duck lips. Obviously you did a head count on your grow outs? My Jd ate 2" tiger barbs like it was nothing at 4" but several didn't go down so easy, and usually it was his stomach that told the tale.
Injury or rock would be my guess. monitor him and keep the water quality high and stress free. Best of luck. keep us updated as to any change in behavior. He looks like a beautiful fish

Yea the festae are all still there. I ran out to grab a whole bunch of meds and wasted some 30+ dollars. I just got back and his mouth is fine. I did however catch him lip locking with one of the females. Her fins are a little torn now but I'm thinking he might have just slightly injured his mouth fighting with her overnight. I feel a lot more relieved now and I'm gonna keep a close eye on him.
