What is wrong with my new puffer? Tank Up date too!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I kinda figured that after doing more in dept. research.... the lfs guy was like "No, this puffer will do great in your set up" guessing they'll do anything for profits...Well worse comes to worse I can eighter give it to my cousin's 240 gallon fowlr tank or sell him.....you seem to know a lot about puffers...hence your name lol. Do you have a cell? Im just curious if my quarantine set up right for a puffer.....because i can just send you a pic of the tank.

Hence my forum:

lol didnt realize that was your forum cool lol, btw he is still not eating...still going up and down the glass sides. I blocked the back and sides off but still does it...help please!

Have you been doing water changes in the QT? What are the parameters in there? What foods have you offered him? Remember--in the wild, all he ate were live foods. Try gut-loaded ghost shrimp to get him eating.

oh ok by the the water is great.... A-0 Nitrate- 10 Nitrite-0 PH 8.4

The fox face is eating well and the yellow tang. Right now the puffer is in a corner starring at the wall, I tried giving him brine shrimp...freeze dried, flakes, silver sides and squid fresh from the market. Tomorrow im heading to the pet store to purchase variety of foods.

Try a live earthworm or gut-loaded ghost shrimp.

The title of this thread alone cracks me up... it's just being a puffer.

I know, it's a bummer right? Cute little guys with a lot of personalities, but they will usually murder any other fish!

....i had a puffer before that id the up glass....thing for awhile but always always ate!!!!!.... Tomorrow im going to purchase all of the foods listed on this page....is force feeding capable for fish? Curious...but i dont want to stress him out.....

Yes, you can force-feed but it is a last resort. Puffers can go very long w/o food. You definitely should have QTed this fish.
