My big silver was fine until I decided to do a small water change. I barely changed 10% of my tank water using my Python and added 5 full caps of API Stress coat. Within a few hours of the water change, the aro was barely moving and my pleco started sucking on his sloughing slime coat. The gar and CK's were fine. Before and after. What is going on? Our City water comes from Big Creek Lake. I think it is too much cloramine. The tail will grow back but I will be hesitant to change the water. Any ideas?

something very bad must have been in your water...

don't add chem, set aside a 20gal barral and make all adjustments to the 20 and do a 20gal water change.....NO CHEM'S

^ i've got to agree, i'm pricing at the moment for a full build. (i'll be buying a 210gal next month woohoo!!) The water here is bad, so with the fish i have now i use a 20 Gal box with lid to age water, I also add de-clorien. The water sits for a week before i use it. I'm going to do the same for my aro tank but on a bigger scale. It'll make it easier to change water via a pump as well.
I was stunned when some guys on here told me they change striaght from the taps.
Canisters, wet/dry all runnig together, expensive set ups with expesive fish in the they dump chemicals is with the fish??????

it's true, some people have access to cleaner water, then from people that live in the city. i live in the country, and own my own well. But still i check my water every time i do a water change.

Did you add anything new to the tank ? it looks like some sort of bacterial infection and caused a fin/tail rot.

I may be wrong...

If not on the adding anything new to the tank, then check your ammonia and nitrite level, you may have excess ammonia and your fish may be suffering an ammonia burn.

Do you have any prime ? if your ammonia is higher than 0, then add some prime to neutralize the chloramine..
