What is wrong with my water for the aro?

Thanks for all your help. The tank has been cycled for years and I have a Rena power filter and two Marineland Biowheel filters. The loss of the tail was in about 2 days after the water change. I have a full fresh water test kit so will test the parameters. It is something in the water so I will have to use buckets from now on.

it's true, some people have access to cleaner water, then from people that live in the city. i live in the country, and own my own well. But still i check my water every time i do a water change.

You wouldn't believe it here, if i fill a black bucket with tap water and let it settle you can see white grains on chemicals in the bottom, like scale from the bottom of a over boild kettle! The Water companies claim the water is safe to drink!!!!Maybe when it leave the plant 50KM away but traveling underground through the Bangkok pipe system has got to add a few nasties!
I lernt my water change lessons early in fish keeping here, i lost a big orange parrot fish (don't know the real name) and i hated myself for a week when i realised why.
I'll be damed if i'm gonna loose a 200$ RTG the same way.
