What is your favorite native, and why?

Largemouth Bass and Green Sunfish make my list. Both fish are fun to watch with great personalities. I really enjoy watching them eat their pray.

Even though I want a Central Missouri Longear tank and I love catching the beautifull Ozark Bass ( Ambloplites constellatus) , I would love to have some rare Handpaint Bluegill or a pure strain of Florida Bluegill (when they go into spawning mode the males get a almost purplish hue).

Rock bass/Shadow bass. Probably obvious by my name. ;)

Runners up would be longear, green sunfish and checkered madtom.

Longear are very colorful, but I like the green sunfishes personality better. And I like most native catfish, but I had a checkered madtom for about 4 years and he was my favorite due to coloration.

Sculpin!!!!

they are angry little monsters with lots of personality!
with almost endless possibility for colors and sizes!!!

Rockbass followed by walleye and some of the gar species. There are plenty of small fish that are neat too, darters, madtoms, sculpins.

Fallfish, they're great, showy fish and look awesome in a large display. Mudminnows run a close second for me.

Bowfin, mainly because I can't have a snakehead where I live and it is the closest thing.

Musky and Bowfin. I dont have to say anthing els!

Longear Sunfish, they have the most color and come in a variety of colors as well. I've thought about getting rid of my 90g African Cichlid tank and filling it with them.

I had a black bullhead years ago that was a very cool fish, bluegill's also, they're beautiful and seem to tame out so quickly, watching your every move when you walk into the room. Got a chain pickerel about 2 months ago, he is a very cool fish, I've alway's thought pike and their relatives were the baddest predatory freshwater fish in the Great Midwest.
