25°C - 30°C - cool comfortable
30°C - 35°C - warm comfortable
35°C - 40°C - hot
40+°C - hot uncomfortable
20°C - 25°C - cool - might need a light jacket
20-°C - don't much like it
Meh...good idea, but the numbers need tweaking. I'd say:
15C to 20C - just about perfect
20C to 30C - too warm
30C and up - friggin' crazy!
5C to 15C - cool
-5C to 15C - cold comfortable
-20C to -5C - hunting cold
-30C and down - ice fishing cold!
I think you hit the nail on the head with that map, Esox. My home is actually very slightly, less than a degree, further south than London. You get the moderating influence of the ocean, combined with the actual warming effect of the Gulf Stream, so you bask in tropical luxury.
I live almost 100km north of Winnipeg, which touts itself as the geographic centre of North America. We have lots of water, including a couple of very large lakes flanking us on both sides; my region is called the Interlake. But, by and large, we are stuck out in the middle of open prairies, near the south edge of the boreal forest, right smack dab in the middle of nowhere. We get some lake-effect snow in winter, but if Lake Winnipeg actually does anything to keep us warm...well, I'd hate to think how much colder it would be without it. Winnipeg isn't sarcastically referred to as "Winterpeg" for nothing.
