As for any particular fish I like all kinds of fish so I dont really dislike much, however I most def. can't stand these annoying things called seahorses..... -_- blahhh.
To add to the afican/ca/sa chiclid thing:
Well I guess its all a matter of opinion but I personally think African cichlids have an intersting history, a nice agression - however not always and an extremely large variey of colors. I like them a lot but I also keep ones that many of you have probably never seen or heard of... you know "mubna..." colorful mean fish. Have any of you checked out some of the cool sand dwellers from lake Tang? Xenotilapia, grammatotria,Enantipous or many others in all shapes and sizes. What about shell dwellers? Those really tiny 1-2 inch fish with very intresting behaviours and not agressive like mbuna are, but can hold there one with one another, they come in all kinds of cool varieties and make for a great small tank. Rock dwellers are cool too with intresting colors, patterns and different attitudes. What about fish from victoria, they are different from your typical mbuna from malawi. There are many many types of fish to explore from Africa and that is from 3 lakes, this doesnt include the cool ones you can find from madagascar or in other river systems. Now I dont think this makes them better but its I just personally find them intresting... however I like sa/ca cichlids also, its all about prefrences but neither is better than the other. I ve owned some cool and I ve liked a lot. My bf has orange pikes right now and I really enjoy them. I ve also owned jags, they are smart. I ve had JD's and other mics sa/ca cichlids and I dont have anything against them.
