I had 4 of these but they had some wierd fungus in them, It eventually killed all 6 of my birchirs including an ornate and a delhzi. The eels kicked for a few more days then got a ride down the poo slide when the medication never worked and it was all over their bodies. They are rediculousy strong, i tried picking on up off the floor when it jumped out of the net and i was scared by how strong it was kicking around... Glad u managed to keep urs.
M rarest fish? Umm Blue whale cat, Polypterus ornatipinis (always hiding
....)and Delhzi (Only seen 3 ornate EVER ina LFS, 2 of which I purchased and 2 Delhzi which i also purchased.... cant believe I paid 70 bucks each) Prize.... 14" aro before he got drop one in one eye lol. Now its my RTC got him 3" about a month ago he now a wopping 8".... Oh and my Dwarf SH. (Shh

I've only had my eel on the floor once, and that was when I was transferring him to the 50. He crawled out of the net. For me, the trick was a combination of tiring him out(unintentionally....he slipped through my fingers a billion times) and not applying grip. If I tried to get a firm grip, he'd wriggle and escape my grasp. When I just scooped him gently, he didn't seem to mind.
It seems I got really lucky in buying a healthy eel.

The LFS only had 2 and the other one had some red irritation of sorts on it dorsal fin, so i only got one. They were asking for 35 bucks but since they didnt label it correctly and i had to find out what it was by posting pics on this forum, i talked them down to 20 bucks. Hes in a 10 gallon with a 2 1/2 inch shovelnose that my gf wanted, so shes "nursing them" to see if she can get them to eat for now... I heard they chew chunks out of fish so i kept him alone at first to make sure he was eating. in my 125 he sould be food for the RTC, gar or aro and im my 40 breeder id kill him if he bit my birchir or eel collection lol. My most prized fish are my Siamese giant barbs. There not my rarest or my most expensive or at the moment my biggest fish. But I treasure them the most!
i love them all xD
