ok so in my tank i got a lot of wood my tank recently went to 4 :irked: it didnt bothered the p bass but it did to my other fish so i took my turf out and brought it to 5,5 thats how my tanks usally are because of the wood, 5,5 is my usual ph and pbass are fine, do you guys think i should raise my ph?

So I'm guessing pH doesn't really impact fish color? My pH is a steady 7.5 with driftwood. My tap water is 7.0, but once it sits in the tank for about 2 days it's right up at 7.5.

That is one of the many reasons for color of your P's diet/water quality/Ph/kh and size of the tank are just a few. Even DO can make a diffrence.

Yea not all fish can handle those type of acid lows. Not all cichlids are as giving as cichla when it comes to ph. But I think 5.0 and 9.0 is the safe range. I don't think it would be a problem to increase the ph but if this is what there use to then I wouldn't worry about it. You see the ph levels in all of our tanks is all over the place. Nobody has perfect water for everybody just for there own need's. I would check my kh if I were you. That is a low reading. But I would start checking my perameter's for at least 2 months until yhou find a desired level and with out using chemicle's is my opinion. What is the ph out of your water source?

Do you think the pH is too high? I keep my water param's at 0 ppm for everything. I do very frequent water changes. KH is ideal, according to several members. DO is very good, per testing. The pH is a little high, but some say it's no big deal. My big question is, why doesn't my mono show better color?

Keep the input coming everyone! pH and pics please!

Nice 6.2 is good. I think we all have our tank's in the best condition mainly because all of our P's have adapted to our individule circumstance's. High ph Low ph what ever make's your cichla happy. I have had my tank's at a high ph and I am at the highest altitude of most of the poster's in this thread. i don't if that makes a difference but I have found that I have better result's with lower Ph.

mine dropped to 6 in another tank, killing my front :(

pH in my bass tank is 6.5 and out of the tap is 7.0

it used to be 7.5 out of the tap, which was a good happy medium for my CB front and the bass
