what is your water change schedule

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Try to give my 75 and 29 a 30-50% change weekly, I don't test as much as I used to, but even if I wait two weeks, my parameters are good. I clean the inside of the glass when I do a WC, and about two weeks is the most I can stand on that. Lol.

I have 8 tanks in house currently, I add 20% clean water every week On top of the tanks water, and once a month I go through and do a 50% water changes as well as cleaning gravel filters and the glass, the biggest of these tanks is my 125gal, all are crystal clear and have no problems whatsoever.

My 2 90's get a 30% water change every Tuesday. Each tank has a AC500 HOB and a Fluval 406 along with 1 MaxJet 900 Powerhead with a sponge filter on it that adds air to the tanks. My 2 AC 500's get serviced on every other Friday. My Fluval 406's get serviced once a month on an off Friday when the the AC 500's are not being done. All of my levels are on the money and both tanks are crystal clear.

For me 25% once a week works well. Usually done on Saturday morning. Mid week I do a filter ring out. Rung out in a fish bag with tank water. It's a routine that's worked well for me over the years with my busy schedule and kids. Cheers.

Are you doing water testings? Im curious to know the nitrate level and feeding schedules and I just find it hard to top a tank with 20% of water w/o over flowing it.

Forgot to mention i siphon water out every other day to feed my plants and yes the last water tests i did of my tanks 2 weeks ago most read around 10ppm i keep it low with live plants in every tank and i just do a long water change, as for my feeding schedule all tanks have certain diets. The biggest of the tanks gets Feeders once a month, night crawlers once a week and a mixture of pellets once every few days. The others get flakes and pellets in moderation except for a few oddballs that get frozen blood worms and garden worms.
