What is your worst tank tragedy or disaster?

my dad turned of the surge gaurd and a few fish died due to lack of oxygen and clean water could have been worse but for the sake of rdefino my neighbors kid put joy in his aquarium they woke up to a sud filled tank and some very "clean" dead fish

I had a 72 bow. The seal under the bottom center brace split at the front of the bow. I was at work. I came home to find a note on my door from the neighbor below. It said "It is raining in my apartment, please stop by when you read this message, no matter how late". I entered my condo to find about 4 inches of water left in the tank and water cascading from the bottom onto the floor. My neighbor was cool about it. He punched a hole in his ceiling to let the water drain into a bucket. I was not so lucky. The water spread through my living/dining/family room. I was out of my unit for nearly three months. Not because of the extent of the damage, but because of the crappy restoration company that my insurance company assigned to do the job.

mine had no fish loss, just was filling up the sink to soak some driftwood fresh from petco and then "ooo look! my favorite TV show!" *one and a half ours later* "what the?" *lightbulb* "o ****! i left the water on!" the water literally flowed out and across the basement and i noticed as warm tap water began to flow between my toes. took weeks to fully dry out. ugh, big mess.

I once had a 180 Gallon with (18) 3-4 inch Caribese. I was in a hurry, filled the tank to the glass, they all suffocated. I left the filter off serveral times after changing the water, killing my female MotoroRay. Over stock my 55 gallon with fish and all suffocated! Lessons learned.
