What kind of airpump?

Hey guys.

I am planning on setting up a new 75 gallon tank and I want to go with sponge filters. What kind of air pump and power rating should I get to run two hydor 5's?

The setup is a dual 75 gallon rack. Each tank will have 1 AC110 and one hydor 5. Please advise.

You could get by with one of the larger double outlet Tetra pumps from Walmart but it doesn't allow you to expand any if you want to add another tank. Only about $30. I keep one around for an emergency spare.

I think it would work great! I just think it would be more than you need. It would ginlve you a little power for an expansion later.

Depending on the length of air line tubing, a larger Whisper should be enough. If it were me though, I'd go with one of the smaller Coralife luft pumps. Plenty of bang for your buck.

My Whisper have been lasting for years now.
Having said that, have you thought about using a powerhead instead of air for your sponges?
