what kind of bichir do i have

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not to rule out the hybrid, I just compared the pics to the sen in my tank, the green and blotches on the head/back are pretty similar. These came out in my sen when I went to darker substrate. I am pretty sure mine is a plain ole regular farm bred sen.

Whatever the ruling, nice fish.

yea its a lot like my sen to but i need to see the tail fin to see if there are any markings cuz on the last pick i saw some but where very feint......

Count the finlets. Regular captive breed sene shpuld have 9. The finlets also have some mottled pattern with a reguklar sene don't/ The green pattern that you see in the head is normal for both regular sene or hybrid. Most upper jaw bichirs will develope that pattern if keep in a dark substrates. The green pattern is NOT that you should be looking at to, but the finlets.

It's a 100% sene x polli hybrid.

ok cool
are hybrids worth more or the same ??

Already looking to flip it for profit? :grinno:

Just kidding with you, truth is they're not common, even in asia (you'll mostly find lapxendli out there), but I don't think that makes it valuable.

I wouldn't pay more for it than a polli the same size.

They are not expensive and only a few dollars more than the parents price. I won't pay any higher than $20 for a 6"+. I got my former sene x polli for $12.
