What kind of Cat fish do I have?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
40 gal

Im afraid to say it but neither one of those tanks are suitable for tha catfish you have. If it is a channel, they can reach 3 ft and 60 lbs. If it is a columbian, they need brackish water and can reach 15 inches. Also, just a note. The pacus you have can reach 3 feet and weigh more than 70 lbs. You need to seriously look into upgrading to a bigger tank or try to find a new home for them before they become stunted.

I don't have pacus, I have Piranhas and there Juves right now. The tail fin and the fin on top are more transparent all teh other fins are black with like a whitest rim around them. He also spends alot of time up top and he also swims on his back when trying to get food. He is also more of a silver then a grey like in the pic

Ok been reading about this Silver tip cat fish, it sounds like its a terror eatting other fish and what not. I asked for a cat fish for my tank and this is what they gave me told me that theyll eatt pellets and krill and what not never said other fish, or that itll get that big.

Yeah I had the plecos and the tetras first and they swim with them like there friends. I did introduce to redish colored fish to the tank today along with the cat fish and they chased them for a bit but the P's are still real small and they are well fed so well see if theyll make it. I figured this will be the time to introduce fish.

I had 4 RBP's for 7 years that I raised from babys and they would only ever eat live food and wood kill anything that came into tehre tank.

The other looks like this
