Just got from LFS not sure what kind it is...

Really? I have never owned one but have always liked the looks. I didn't know they were aggressive, thanks for the heads up.

To me it looks like a juvenile Jack Dempsy, to me it also appears to be female.

that's what threw me off when i got mine. it must have been really stressed or something but when i got it it was the same pale brown that most stressed CA cichlids are and thought he was a JD. threw him in and 1 week later he is a blood red killer. only survivor was a convict who learned to avoid him fast.
