Hey guys i now have an empty 60 gallon fish tank after an ick infection took over the tank and i've been running an empty tank now for a couple days to let cycle. Well im here to ask what kind of cichlid would do best in a tank this size i was thinking about a heros rotkeil if i can find one. Would like to hear all other suggestions.

I'd dump 3 TBS/5 gal salt in the empty tank for about a week at high temps to make sure the ich is dead (that's higher than normally recommended. Then do a big water change.
Or did you break down the entire tank? How are you cycling it? Cycling takes about a month, not a few days unless you used cycled media.
I'd hate for you to lose a special fish so I just wanted to let you know.

Im going old school with the cycle i cleaned out teh whole tank and have some feeder gold fish in there at the time. Im using amquel+, novaqua, and api aquarium salt to get it started.

have to disagree.
parachromis Friedrichsthalii fully grown would not even be able to turn around in a 60 gallon tank.
it would be fine to grow out but one day would be too big for a 60g.
also, if you decide to keep a large cichlid you can do so but it will have to be alone.
you could do a frontosa, midas, red devil, oscar, trimac, festae, green terror, all kinds of things.

another option would be some smaller african cichlids with some angels or parrot cichlids.

if i had an empty 60g i would probably put a couple salvinis in with some convicts or firemouths, a jd could do well in there too.

Decent sized tank for a couple of Severum.

Anything under 9" will do nicely, Salvini's and some of the other smaller Centrals like Archocentrus sp. get my vote (not together, though).
