The tail is NOT a definite way of telling which species of datnoides is which. I cant stand when people do this. I can tell you just by looking at it that it is a widebar. That is a hell of a deal and i would pay more for it.

Edit:
Also dont look at ID charts people post....They are no help.
Sorry Mr. Pulcher I was just trying to be helpful. I'm new to them as well and when I ask people just tell me to look at the ID charts so I was just trying to help her out.

I dont mean to sound rude but i just cant stand all thse ID threads with people posting ID charts and basing there hypothesis on them. Tail strips do not matter.

Could you maybe tell me what DOES matter, pretty please :help2:
I want to know how to tell the difference.
If it's a widebar, what would one of that size usually go for price wise?

How can this be a Widebar?
Were else has anyone seen 7'' widebars, In the United States?

I'd really like to know.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but we did buy it from an Asian hole-in-the-wall kind of fish store. They also had an unusually high number of silver arowanas, not to mention the guy's personal fish tank that was set up in there with a full size jar, silver aro, clown knife, and gg. So maybe he just happened to have a widebar? IDK.

Haha I didn't know that though but thanks for telling me so now I know not to rely on the ID charts as much.

Widebar: Good Yellow coloration (not always, some are stressed), Middle stripe sweeps backward's towards the tail, The head is more curved at the top, and ofcourse widebars sometimes have 2 tail stripes and other times they will have 3. The one's with 3 tail stripes usually sell for less and are considered "less" quality. Also some widebars will have "split" bars which means when they were growing up there middle bar split off or shaped different which could make it look like an indonesian datnoide. My largest dat has this one one side of her body.

Indo: usually has darker coloration or very light coloration (unstable), Pointed head, Some have 4 bars and some have 3 bars, Most of them have the 3 tail stripes, if not all of them. And most indonesians get large eyes when they are growing up, it almost looks cartoonish because they are so big compared to there body. They body isnt as tall, it is more long than wide.

That explain it? :D

It's still very interesting to me.
I think its really cool though, and you got a killer deal.

I would seriously KILL to find a 7'' widebar in the states, and with that price...
