What kind of dog?

First of all it depends on what pet and what expectations you have for that pet... if it is a dog then it should be family safe with all members of the family... so i agree with you miguel... humans and especially children safety should always come first.. there are some breeds that are known for loyal behavior towards one possibly two people at most...this is not a family dog.. so it would be wise to research and define the type of dog that is suitable for a family instead of hoping for the best...these dogs have a natural instinct to be loyal and protect only one master.. other pets we own are at our own risk and it is up to the owner to provide safety for the pet and safety to others from the pet...and any injury from the pet i would deem as the owners lack of responcibility in protecting pet and others..and not the animals fault..if you cannot provide these precautions you should not have the responcibility of ownership.

This got me wondering, what kinds of dogs are like that? Which ones are loyal to 1 or 2 people only? Which ones are the most loyal? (Generally speaking)

Certain dog breed like cattle dogs and hearding dogs will generall have one specific owner they will consider their master, only one he'll really listen too although he'll be friendly and loyal to all members of the family.

I have a pitbull/lab cross, and he listens to me over anyone else, and is very very intelligent.
nobody will mess with him either lol.

Our Jack Russel will listen to anyone. She's the smartest dog I've ever seen. We're currently trying to train her to bark when a bobber goes underwater so I can sleep when I'm fishing with here LOL. She already knows what they represent because when they start to move she gets all excited.
