what kind of feeders

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in my experience ive seen far more toughies with parasites, and white bumbs and diseased fins then any other kind of feeder, my aro wouldnt even eat toughies... they were too gross for it, he sure did loooooooooove shiners!

guppies and mollies are better than goldfish or rosies, both the goldfish and rosies can lead to thiamin deficiencies if fed steady. Small crays, crickets and earthworms are also great live food for Ps.

i have a 265 gallon with 23 piranha in them....i feed 150 feeders on monday/wed/fri and every other day of the week i put in a bag (i dividied portions myself) of a dog food that is in the grocery section frozen goods and just put that in the tank at night and by morning its all gone. it is so high in protein, it gets them huge quick. and healthy.

Visiting the local Asain supermarkets will bring much surprise to you....There are many frozen foods that are healthy for our piranhas....One such is frozen perch....These fish are the about 1 inch in size and defrost pretty quickly.....Not to mention the many varieties of shrimp and prawns that are available too...$20 will supply more than enough food for 6 5 inch juvenile reds for a month, month and a half....Heck, I still have food frozen from about two months ago....I cycle the different shrimps and small fish combos everyday(maybe every other day)....

How many 265's do you posses?!I've researched your post history and found out you own maybe another 265, but with 6 13" muskies....WOW!!:grinno: Could this be the same setup you are mentioning here on this thread------>but with 23 PIRANHA, or is it a seperate tank.....Geez, I'd like to see pix of this creation.....****thinking****(23 pygos, 20g/fish, well the given volume(265) you have them in, lets say 10g/fish, which comes out to 230g max, but you have 265, I guess there'll be happy....)****thinking****BTW, what kind of dog food, sorry, "FROZEN" dog food are you feeding your p's????I'm highly intrested, in fact, I may visit the market today, or PetSmart, and see....Thanks.....POST THOSE TANK PIX

I sense a slight bit of doubt – if not sarcasm – or maybe disbelief importracer, haha!

Indeed Howdoiplayxx, I would also love to see some pictures of your setup as well.
Should put any doubters at ease, and certainly intrigue us to see such a setup.

Are we to understand that you go through 450 feeders a week?

best not to feed any live food, they adapt very well to none live and as said stay away from gold fich and it's family, If you must breed your own!

hey yeah i have several large tanks and a bunch of predator fish. i just set up a little tank of 2 octopus actually, they are my latest addition. i will put up pictures as soon as i get a chance. i am currently home for winter break and my tanks are all at my apartment back at school. i have some pictures on my digital camera though, what is the easiest way to put up pics? ive only done it once....thanks. and yes i go through more than 450 feeders a week. between the muskies, red bellies, and blacks, and the octopus now, i go through 1000 or so a week. the frozen food is called Billjacks. go to your local walmart and you can get it there, i think its like $8 bucks for a 5 pound bag and it comes in a frozen square. goodluck with it, let me know if you have any other questions.
