What kind of fish is this???

Does anyone know what kind of fish I have here? I got him from a fish store that went out of business and no one there was sure what he is. I have had some buddies think its a red finned borleyi, others try to tell me its some kind of s.american. But I dont know. Please help if you can.

I'd guess some sort of Malawi cichlid.

Some kind of African cichlid. Lake Malawi? Looks sort of like a compressed peacock cichlid.

Looks like a Copadichromis Borleyi to me also. I had 1M+2F and the male started to show nice red & blue color around 3" the females stay dark grey with orange fins.

I actually have a female borleyi in the tank but she is full grown and hes about 3 inches or so. He's a little afraid of her still but is warming up a little. I guess I will wait til he gets a little bigger and see how he develops. Thanks everyone!!!!
