Thank you for the pictures with better lighting.

With these pictures you can clearly see the jaw line stopping at the eye which states either smallmouth or spotted to me and leaning more towards smallmouth.

Can almost completely knock out largemouth from the equation unless i am missing something.

Definitely , but the inspiration behind it was said to be that alligator mentioned earlier.

In other words , inspired (extremely loosely) by a real event.

Also keep in mind that both largemouth, spotted and smallmouth can have the radiating lines on the cheek area
