not really sure but I know in human food cod is frequently used as a filler fish, herring too
Fish meal ingredients can be from fish or parts during manufacturing (leftover parts, trimmings, waste, etc..) that's not suitable for human consumption. Main species will vary for each country. In the U.S. it's mostly Pollack. Same cheap abundant fish that is in fast food fish fillet and sticks.
Some manufacturers claim they add Salmon.
Salmon will be it's own ingredient. It's a higher cost ingredient and selling point for pet food.

My understanding is whole fish meal is the whole fish while fish meal is the junk left. Check @RD threads he has some real interesting stuff on fish label ingredients.
Wow...that's really disturbing. The primary ingredient in my pellets are fish bones/fins/heads...whats @RD?
The attached thread isnt the one i was thinking of but they do explain allot. I dont remember everything that was discussed. NLS's ingredients are my favirote just wish they made a softer larger wafer

NLS does have a 7 mm size pellet, not sure how large you would need. They have 7mm both sinking and floating pellets.
