What kind of fish?

Hello all. Recently was throwing a net for talapia to use for catfish. I have been finding a few im guessing cichlids mixed in with the talapia i catch. Just wondering what they are because a buddy who keeps cichlids had no clue.

What location are you catching these at? I catch a bunch of cichlids in south FL and have always wondered why I haven't caught any Texas, as they should definitely be one of the most cold tolerant of cichlids

I’m not to sure why people tend to jump to the conclusion of hybrid.... There are a lot of sub species of fish but to me it looks like a regular Texas cichlid. I live in Southern California and I can find those at my local pet store as Texas cichlids.
