What kind of frontosa should I get?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mel suggested caves and rocks, I have to underline to use smooth river rocks, or a background from Aquaterra, one of those underwater cliffs reproductions. Reason why is the jagged rocks usually end up hurting frontosas as most of them are skittish and will dart for cover so they end up scratching their bodies, or worse eyes.

As this is a start for you I`d go for Burundi or Kigoma frontosas.

I have 5, 7 stripe kigoma in a 75 gallon with a few syno cats, I love my fronts, But what are you looking for in a fish? If you want size, the burundi get 16", They also get the huge hump on its forehead. If you want to breed and sell I think the zaire blue 6 stripe would be the way to go, I would do some research on fronts, and talk to people and look at their fish, then make the choice of what to get. I think 180 you could get more than what you said you were looking for. Or put calvus or comps in with them. Calvus are slow growers so make sure they are at least twice the size of the fronts or they will get out grown and probally ate. good luck and enjoy

frontosas are great and i agree about the ph not sure its real critical. think the stability is more important.the kind you pick is up to you
