what kind of gar am i ??

is it just me or is half of the gar secion taken up with `identify my gar` posts. Im not getting at anyone, i would ask for the same if i could get one... are gars very different in their markings or something? or are they just hard to identify?

I'm not really sure why.. All aside from the Spotted and Flordia are rather easy to ID to species. Platyrhincus and Oculatus are rather pointless to ID to species anyhow, care is the same and without location data it is all but impossible without killing the fish.

There is much information out there on all of these fish and a few of us have been extensively involved with spreading accurate information about them for several years all over the Internet. (so much so that it is usually our information and photos that are used by others) The info is out there so it is my guess that either one does not really want to look up the fish (or does not know how) or they are really more interested in chatting for chats sake.

long nose gars get up to 6 feet in the wild and 2 feet in a aquarium and yes gars can eat pellet food..
