What kind of lungfish would work in a community tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah i didnt realize it was going to be so small so im keeping it in a breeder box till it gets bigger and then it can just stay in my 60.

Im big on using floating boxes to grow fish. I have my RTC and RTCxTSN in a 2x1 foot and 5 inch deep tub floating in my 330. Its got holes drilled in it and those noodle floaties around the top to keep it up

moved my lungfish and tsn around today to make room for my new sturgeon and i take back what i said. my lungfish is about 2 thumbs around. it is hard to find those things out through 2' of water. its head is about a thumb width though.

Also, make sure that you have a lid no matter how big the SAL is or how deep the aquarium is!

I never thought that my old 30" SAL would try to escape his aquarium that was around 22" high on the outside since he didn't seem to be able to get his head past the lip, but he did eventually get out one night. Thankfully, he was okay and didn't seem to fazed by being out of water for a few hours; in fact, it almost seemed like he was starting to try to aestivate or something since he was making a mucous cocoon of sorts when I found him.

Good to know. I wasnt plannin on securing the top but now i will.

Yeah that just goes to show how tuff these guys are. Thats what they do in the wild when there water pools dry up and they can live for months like that. Well in mud at least.

Well i got the lungfish today. Its about 4 inches long. Ive already seen him eat a bloodworm. But it seems like he is having trouble staying at the bottom. Hes floating at the top and every now and then rolls over. Is this normal for a juvi?

I once had a SAL and he did very well with his tankmates; and my aussie is currently "befrieded" with my pacmen cat, arowana and lates.
