Lutino Tiger Oscar, a common Albino Tiger Oscar wouldn't have the dark tinge on the edge of it's fins. Very nice fish by the way, the body shape and fins are superb.
whats the difference between the lutino and common?

Ya, awesome albino!

I don't understand your question. Are you asking of the difference between a common albino and common lutino? It's that common albinos don't have dark edges and common lutinos do.

Most Oscars get dark edges at some point...Can you validate any of this?

It is common knowledge gathered from reading many many articles and posts. I don't know how it's possible to validate. Perhaps only an experienced breeder of oscars can do that. To my knowldege the common "albino" oscars don't get the dark edges. My red tiger (the dark variety, not albino or lutino) actually has light edges on her fins... As I understand it, the so called "albino" is line bred to retain it's coloration. The lutino is similar but has blood of the darker oscars in them, how dark they get depends on the extent of those genes. Often when lutino oscars are young they look like albinos and as they grow older those dark colored genes are expressed.

:mwave:by now you should know what your fish is. Btw your oscar looks nice i have 4

huh? dark tinge on fins? that has nothing to do with it. where did you hear that?

anyways, the fish posted is a LUTINO TIGER OSCAR because it obviously has some pigment. true albinos are extremely rare.

cheers,

I wasn't talking about technical terms, just common names. I know what you mean.
