So I purchased this guy under the title Tiger Oscar, I’m new to this and don’t care what type of Oscar he is. He has quickly become part of the family! But I’m looking at tons of pictures of Tiger Oscars and he just doesn’t look the same as them?? I’m just looking for a little help identifying this guys species? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Oscar is probably mixed with another colored Oscar but it still looks nice. There are a few color variants especially captive bred Oscars.

Flint town!
Back in the day that would have been in a tank labeled red Oscar or common Oscar. People like to attach crazy names based off color. That color could be an accident of nature or a design by line breeding. If line bred the color should remain stable as it's typically named after an adult coloration. This is ok imo, it's the fly by nights that make up names based off the color they see currently on a random fish they just got ahold of to make a larger profit that are imo unscrupulous to say the least.
At any rate it's a pretty fish! I'd like to see progression pics to see changes if any.
How long have you had it?

The names red tiger, copper, lutino, etc etc are basically man induced different color lines of the same oscars, names made up to call the set color line, in the same manner as there are lines of blue guppies, red guppies, fan tails etc, they are all really just guppies (but selected over generations for color), just like different goldfish strains.
Different color lines, are not really different species of oscars.
Most oscars in the hobby are Astronotus ocellatus.
In any species of fish spawn, there are percentages that deviate from the normal line, and can look a little different, maybe sport a few extra scales of a red, or copper, those color deviations were bred together with others that sport that deviation of color, to get ie red oscars, or others .
