I'll vote again here. I'm pretty sure that is a gold motaguense. I picked up a young pair from Rapps yesterday. My male looks like a mini version of yours. Beautiful fish BTW. If you don't like him, send him my way. :naughty:
You can't really compare a juvenile to an adult or even a sub-adult. They will go through many color/pattern changes as they grow. Why do you think so many Parachromis species are sold incorrectly labeled when they are sold as juveniles?

I would say Loisellei. Either way, it's a beautiful fish. Enjoy it!

I don't think that is a loisellei unless the wild caught ones look different from the tank raised ones.

Here is a picture of the pair that I used to keep.

WC often will look somewhat different. However, you posted a pic of an adult pair. They will look different from his sub-adult and they will all look different from my small juvenile...

Very well said:)

Tango Yankee!

I mean "Thank You"

Hard to break military habits. :D

I have seen many loisellei subadults and fry's before. They rarely show their vertical stripes on their body. I am not a parachromis expert but I speak from my experince in keeping them before. Either way, it is a nice fish.

BTW, Hawkfish3.0, yours is a loisellei for sure. It looks like a male to me.

I believe that threads like these explain why they are incorrectly labeled. The three species in question: Freddy, loisellei, and gold motaguense all look quite a bit alike. Rarely do you find very much agreement in threads trying to differentiate between these three.

My small motaguense pair (4.5") is already showing mature pattern. I'm also comparing his fish to other gold mota pics at similar size.

I'm going to have to believe J Rapps on this one and go with Loisellei. It's a gorgeous fish with a kick-a*s personality. He'll grow up and then I may stand corrected but that I'm happy with the fish is the most important thing and that I am 100%. Unfortunately my pictures don't do him justice and show nothing of his personality. :headbang2
