I was thinkin TS too but it's so dark all the spangled sax look alike and ya cant see the tail that good either. Also dont really see any spots near the back of the dorsal, so I'd go Male too.

They were imported as Crenicichla saxatilis. I have these two pics also. There are four of them total out of 20 I order.

Still think they are True Saxatilis, they have the strong lateral line, as well as the strong spangling, typical of male Crenicichla saxatilis. SEXAY!! They are a trick to find nowadays!!
were those pics taken in "tongs Tropical Fish" cause i swear that sajme tank is at tongs right now with those pbass and pikes..... plus it says u live in cali so i gotta know if its in tongs.
