Other than a scobina, what other rays would go in a 6x3 ? Hystrix?
What kind of rays would be suitable for this tank?

No for Motoros. They get too big. Possibly hystrix, scobina or reticulated ray. There’s also mini marbled motoros, but it comes down to the parents genetics and size
If you can get your hands on scobina- that would be a decent sized tank for a good long time. Rays don’t grow as fast as most other fish.
When you say for life- not sure if you realize that is typically 10+ years for smaller species and even longer for larger. Most people loose interest and get out of the hobby etc well before the lifespan of their rays so I would say go for it and you have a few years to figure it out if you are actually lifer or not.

Whats the budget???? Scobina are available, but they are far from cheap. Last I knew $800ish.
Some of us are working on breeding smaller rays. I've been working with little Marbles for longer then people admit to them existing.....
Here's one of my breeder males. Might be 9" across..... Have been keeping 3-4 males ina 4x4x2. One of the males in there is the father to several of the rays here that are now breeders. He's been with me for probably close to 10 years. I'd be very surprised if he ever hits a foot across.
Buy from the flippers that will tell you any Marble is a "mini" or track down someone who makes them......

In the uk scobina male is roughly £350 which is $485, the pair is £700 so about $1000, over here all rays are expensive really, but there is a breeder here thats got a brilliant reputation, so will be using them for the scobina's
