WHAT KIND OF SALT DO YOU USE WHEN A FISH IS GETTING STRESSED FROM SHIPPING OR MOVING TANKS.

I HAVE USED ICE CREAM ROCK SALT IN MY POND BEFORE, IS THIS SAFE TO USE FOR TROPICAL FISH?

I thought rock salt and aquarium salt were same thing, wait aquarium salt is made from evaporated sea water right?

Just use aquarium salt your supposed to use it for ich which is a parasite that attacks stressed and weak fish, I think stress coat is good for stressed fish too.

i have heard that people use water softener salt because it's cheaper in bulk...any thoughts/suggestions/brands?

Any Koshar salt will work. Canning salt, any kind of NON iodinized salt. I buy 4 lb boxxes at that craphole called Wal mart for like 1$ ea.

yeah that's what i have been doing but that doesn't last me very long. yes wal-mart is the bane of my existence also...god i hate that place.

any pure salt will work, no need to buy the expensive 'aquarium' salt. its just pure Nacl just like the other stuff. i personally like the Morton Solar Salt, used for water softeners. they carry it at lowes/walmart in my area. about $5 for a 40lb bag
