it will only get into u filter if u dump a bag of it in the tank while the filters on. OR you place ur intake for the filter into the sand its self.. pool filter sand does not kick up very easily. a very large fish could possibly cause it to be come suspended for a second or too.
my 12'' Oscar will dig in it and up root plants and the sand merely shifts horizontally, never vertically. its a very dense sand!
