what kind of sand?

I use pool filter sand in my african tank and have yet to have any of it in my XP3 filters and they're about 4" off the tank floor. I stir the sand quite frequently and it settles pretty quickly so none gets sucked up by the intakes.


I would search around though because I've read on other forums that stingrays need specific kind of sand.

yeah. i think the quartz sand is the stingray friendly pool sand...isnt it?
is pool sand still fine enough for the ray to be able to bury himself?

im pretty sure pool sand is very fine since it is for pool filters

It's not real fine. It's little bit larger than play sand. Maybe .2-.5mm

Just get Pool Filter Sand Grade 20... its not too big and not too small..

Also, a lot recommend bare bottom tanks for rays.
