What kind of severum...

Sounds like to me you have this fish 'stressed' for some reason AND you have other fish that are overly 'shy', and hide a lot? Have you considered that perhaps one of the fish in your tank is kickin' the hell out of the rest of em when you're not looking? Like maybe at night or something? You wouldn't by chance happen to have a fish that just stays up in the top corner of your tank most of the time it's so "shy" would you? Cause that's not shyness. That's terror...:)

And do you perhaps work a lot, and you only see the fish in the morning when you feed them, and late at night when you get back home from work? You barely have time to feed em and do a small water change every other week or so? It happens, we all have lives. In that case, maybe there's more aggression going on in that tank than you realize? Maybe it's just me, but I just got the impression from quickly reading through the discussion that there was a single bruiser in that tank whooping a bunch of peaceful fish into total submission. That does tend to happen to Severum's doesn't it?

I have no issues with people giving me their opinons, or even constructive criticism, when I put something in a public forum. Especially when asking advice of others. The only thing I would ask is that if people do want to comment or advise, at least do me the courtesy of reading properly and formulating a response at least partly based in fact, rather than something pulled out of your imagination. From where do you get the impression that there is a single large bruiser? I have 8 fish in the tank... 2 dats- know to be potentially shy. A leopard bushfish- likes to hang out in the plants. Spotted/florida gar that spends its time at the top. 2 polys that hang out by their driftwood. an oscar that is smaller than the sev and actually gets pushed around by it. and finally the severum, which i was asking for an id of btw. There is no bullying going on in my tank and nobody is 'cowering in the top' Where did you pull all those assumptions about my work and my life and my water change schedule from? You couldnt be further from the truth. I spend a lot of time just sitting watching the fish in both my tanks, Im home all evening and have plenty of time to feed them and each and every week I spend 2 hours changing 30% on both my tanks, cleaning glass and so on. If you have nothing of use to say go do one. And if I sounds defensive it is because you sir offend me with you bs theories about things you know nothing about.

Ian--

I am sorry to have offended you--it was not my intent. I will say in my defense, though, that I drew almost all of my conclusions directly from the things that you yourself wrote. I was really just trying to think through why your fish is stressed, and possibly offer a cause for it. I think my reason is at least plausible. Not ich, not water parameters, maybe it's aggression. Makes sense to me. I was not trying to imply that you neglect your tank, and I shouldn't have brought it up. Getting caught up in work some weeks is something that plagues me, and I often wrongly assume it happens to everyone else, too. Please accept my apologies.
