What kind of snake would this be?

Or was it a Nerodia? They look similar to a viper:

He wasn't really stocky (like the snakes you pictured) but since the snakes are beginning to come out, he could of just been thin.

I also thought viper. I'm really not sure. I know it was most likely a venomous snake with an abnormal color. Good thing I didn't step on it. Close call.
