what kind of temp for a bullfrog

santoury, I know in the invert community they would put the heatmat on the side of the tank. Would that method work for amphibians?

I don't think it's even worth having one, for amphibians. Just keep the overall temp within range, room temp usually works perfectly. I keep different frogs and a salamander in said conditions with no extra heat.

Not a problem. I just want to run it by you. I never had a problem with a heatmat underneath when I had a wood frog, but I had it hooked up with a thermostat. That was back when my parents' house was like 10 C (50 F) all the time, since there was no central heating or room thermostats.

ok now im scared with all this heat mat talk. i just got a new pacman cause my last one from petco decided not to eat, so i went and got a pretty big fantasy pacman from the LPS. and i have had a heat mat on my tank all the time. all i have for heat is the mat, one of the ones that sticks to the bottom of the tank, and the original bulb in the top of the 10 gallon aquarium. should i just unplug the mat heater? i have the substrate really deep, like 4", i didnt think it was going to expand as much as it did, so.... should i just unplug it?. thanks
