if i were you i wouldnt get a pair of convicts because they become very agresive when breeding.
i would get a pair of firemouths,1 or 2 male cons,and 1-2 jackdemseys. and maybe even a blood parrot

I think that you should skip the Convicts. Should the cons decide to breed they will own that tank and none of the other fish will show there color. IMO 1 GT/4 FM's and then you could do a few tiger barbs/giant danio's for dithers.
 
Dither fish is a fancy way of saying calming fish. They often help reduce agression and or stress. If you've ever had a single cichlid in a tank that hides to much the addition of dithers helps to relax them. They show the cichlid that it is safe to swim out in open water. In a community setting they can help break the line of site between cichlids. Lets say a GT is chasing a FM in your 60g the site of a dither will break his concentration and he will either chase said dither or just go back to his/her own territory.
 
dont put the cons in because if you have a pair they are most likely to breed and they will defernately dominate your tank and possibly kill some fish dont risk it mate.
Try rainbow cichlids,sajicas or salvinis they worked well for me.

no bro dont get a pair of convicts. either get 1 or 2 male cons not a male and female there too agreesive when breeding and will kill all your fish(trust me from experience);)

ok for sure I'll get either 1 or 2 males..Quick question to you and everyone else....Could I do a Frontosa, 2 firemouths, and 2 convicts?????
