What kinda cat is this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As (most) everyone has said, its a Channel Catfish, Ictalurus punctatus. An albino too. Channel Cats are a North American Native fish and can thrive, like other NA Native fish, without a heater. It is the same species as the fish you see at the supermarket labeled "Catfish" and is the most cultivated species of fish in North America. They can eventually reach over 50lbs. and 4' long if adequate food and space is provided. Usually they max out at 2-3' and a few pounds. I have a couple, both Albino and wildtype, in my ponds and they are little piggies :D. They love to steal food from other fish as well as eat them. They are one of my favorite species of fish and they can be trained to eat out of your hands like RTC's and Oscars. Cheers! Good luck with him!

Here's a site with a bunch of cool pictures. Not necessarily the best info. but still....

Yeah its a channel. They are neat fish when they get bigger. I like how he looks almost white/platinum instead of that dingy yellow color that the albinos sometimes get.

yeah nice albino channel cat, mine was a little over a foot long at like 6 months old, at the time i coud not house him so i donated him to a local zoo that helps with special needs kids, there alot of fun to watch eat if you can catch them at night eating, mine would eat big goldfish and shrimp. good luck with this beautiful cat
