There is a guy in Florida who has a breeding pair of the wild morph. They've been on Aquabid off and on the last year or so. Cichluvr or something is his handle.

I've got some growing out now that I got from him. Looking forward to seeing them like this!

bumping a old thread but yeah wild snooks are sweet and I haven't seen much of them on this site. I got a wild at a LFS for $10 a while back he's only 4" or so now but I will try to get a updated picture for you. I'm growing him out next to a red bay the same size it's interesting to see them change.

"what's the price on these usually? Say for a juvi."

It's less that they're high dollar fish...but that they're just not always available.

I seem to remember that a couple of years ago a couple people in the area were breeding them...and people rolled their eyes at club auctions at having to basically give away another bag of these guys: "Anyone...a dollar for 6 wild-color Petenia?"

One guy got his BAP points, got tired of being begging people to take his fish (vs. whatever was the hot fish that week) and sold his pair...to someone who - evidently - quit breeding them.

And thus the "rare" fish cycle continues...

Those colors look great but, they don't always look like that. The pic is of 2 males sparring in spawning dress. I have 6 greens and their colors only pop when they're ready to spawn.
