Me too. Just don't drop it in the tank, quit working almost instantly.

Take the battery cover off and clean the contacts. Mine has been soaked several times and so far I've been able to get it going again.

Seems to me the word "accurate" is just like "normal" in that it's relative.
Who's to say the "accurate" thermometer used for calibration is indeed accurate.

the temperature scale is based on physical constants.

the main reference point is the triple point of water....ice, water, water vapor together occur at exactly 0.010000 degree C. other points are for example the freezing point of copper, gold, alum etc.

very accurate and repeatable PRTs ( platinum resistance thermometers ) are used between the fixed points. then all the references are exchanged through out the world and cross checked etc.

we often measure temperature to a few thousandths of a degree at PTC.

after using so many glass suctioned ones that get broken by some of my monsters.i decided to use a sticker thermometer on the outside.i still have a glass one in the filter are tho.

The good old glass tube for me. I had a few digital ones, but even if I put them right next to each other they still read far apart.

If I ever need a sensitive themometer I will know where to go!!

I use the Coralife one myself.....
