What kinds of fish for 29 gallon?

Angels need a tank height of 18 inches and a larger tank than that so voting for angels won't be right.
I voted for 'Other' simply because there are other choices out there. Rasboras, barbs, tetras, pencilfish, white clouds, etc aside from danios.
You say you don't like livebearers? Then guppies as suggested may not be your typical preference. Having all males is possible but expect some fin nipping issues although as long as your water conditions don't go wrong, they will heal right away or get some Melafix to aid the recovery.
As for bottom dwellers, your choice of otos, small species of plecos and cories.
