Definitely a limited list. I think Bettas would do the best as they are air breathers.

Today the wife and I went to the lfs and picked up 2 snake skin, and 2 pearl gourami's. We also got a water lilly, plus I stuck a little mangrove I had in there. I can't really see the pearls, but the snake skins look cool.

How can you sex them? The fish I picked up are small @ about 2".

maybe its the color of the throat.. could make sense lookin at that pic above

Well, I did a google search. The males have pointy dorsal fins compared to the females.
I might have to go back to the store and get a few of each tomorrow.
