What life lessons have you learned from aquarium keeping?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I learned that cooking and eating your fish when they die does not make you feel better about the money you spent on them.

I learned that I could never just eat one of my pets like that....I still have my flame angel in the freezer, awaiting the spring thaw for burial...

Expect happiness, expect sadness, expect an empty wallet, expect to be addicted. Expect it to all end one day.

This right now is very true for me,

Woke up this morning happy looking at my planted 60G CRS tank...

Came home today to a tank of dead CRS making me sad

Planning on replacing those shrimp possibly tmr meaning empty wallet

And yea, i expected the shrimp to die one day but not all at once, and not without at least breeding once!

Sorry for your loss...I had that happen on one of my African tanks a couple of years ago...truly sucks...

That said...scampi anyone? I'm sure you'll have it running again soon :)

Sorry I'll admit I'm one of the few that doesn't have any real emotional attachment to my fish. I don't consider them pets. Just beautiful creations that are intriguing to watch.

They are like family if you name them and start to familiarise your self with the fish and bond
you would probs keeping in your freezer door to say hi when you need to get some ice cubes or frozen desert (although letting go is a much better option, but don't let him go to waste chop him up and feed him to your monsters(how heartless)):p
there is an an exception for tiny fish and extremely dumb and short lived fish :(
My favourite fish jumped out of his tank 3times and survived until night fall,
lovely fish 'twas my betta
