What lights to use?

I don't really think the size of the bulb matters. My t10 is only a 5" bulb and does the job like I said. I think one 6,500k t5 or t8 will do fine but two would be even better.

To be fair, Anubias will stay alive from just the room being lit.

I personally find that to be some what of a myth. I've had several low light easy to care plants die. Like duckweed and java fern and a different Anubis I got at the same time as the one I have now. My tank doesn't get any natural day light so the only light it gets is from the light bulb.

Well that's the thing, in my old tank I had a regular T8 bulb, the tank is 15'' high and none of the previously mentioned plants like swords, anacharis, hornwort worked for me. They would all brown up and die. The new tank doesn't get any sunlight, unlike the old one that was getting few good hours of direct sunlight cuz it's next to a window. Could it be that the old tank was getting too much light? I'm also planning on putting individual switches for the bulbs so I will be able to work only one or two bulbs and reduce the lights if it starts growing algae.

Yeah that definitely sounds like it was too much light. I've seen member grow crazy planted tanks in their window with no light strip at all just natural day light.
