What made you get into monster fish?

Lionfish is definitely on my bucket list. I want a cuttlefish too!
But saltwater seems so intimidating at the moment. I would like to get some hands on experience before I dive into that side of the hobby.
Salt is not that bad if you're doing a fish only system. Go as big as you can afford and buy a refractometer. Reef tanks are a bit more tricky because of the extra additives.

I've had a few people tell me this, but every time I start reading up on it, it gets a bit overwhelming, not to mention it sounds expensive.
I'll give it a shot one day for sure though. I'll never get to keep a cuttlefish if I don't figure it out, and the cuttlefish is my dream fish.

I visited the public Aquarium in my city and the aquarium had a setup with dwarf Cuttlefish. It blew my mind because never knew a specie of cuttlefish that small existed. If I tried a Cephalopod again it definitely would be dwarf cuttlefish. The only downside of keeping them would be their short life span of 1 year.

Yeah, definitely. I would love to get the flamboyant dwarf cuttlefish, but I would be perfectly happy settling with just a basic one. Either way they're super cool and super smart.

Any cephalopod would be awesome but it sucks how short they live. Good for a “well I got to keep it now what else do I do” animal, but I like something that is 10+ years.

My concern with the short life span is my wonderful ability to become emotionally invested in my pets. I'm going to get to know this cute little cuttlefish and all of its personality and likes and dislikes, and then it's going to die, and I'm going to be an emotional puddle.
