Again your missing the point. You dont just base monster fish on size with this forum. Some of the 8-16 inch fish are the most aggressive fish you can keep and that can make them monster fish. How about exodens. They are among the biggest monster you could ever keep in a tank but they are small fish. you could keep the smallest fish but haver a huge tank and still be a monster fish keeper. O and your scale is horrible. You could combine so many of the size groups in your scale

Lol - Although I love this, it's not all-inclusive. For instance, I would consider exodons monsters despite their small size. And, quite frankly (and even though I'm planning on getting one of these beauties), a red tail giant gourami doesn't quite meet my idea of monster when compared with a smaller fish with a much bigger attitude, like say a jaguar or black belt. In short, size isn't everything. *grin*

Any fish owned by a monster fishkeeper. Many people on this forum (there are a lot of threads on this) define "monster" as being about passion and fishkeeping. So if you are passionate about fishkeeping, then your fish are monster fish.

The Welcome Page to MFK states:
"We are a unique community of Fish Keepers who seriously take our hobby to extremes and the NEXT level. The majority of our fish collections include RARE & EXOTIC Species of all sizes, BIG FISH with BIG APPETITES and BIG TANKS. It's not easy for most people or other "regular" fish keepers to understand why we maintain this type of collection and spare no expense on this fascinating hobby."

Those who take the hobby to the extreme/next level or keep big fish with big appetites in big tanks would define monster in those terms. All other fishkeepers will define "monster" as being solely about passion. So by definition of "monster", every fish owned by every member of MFK is a monster fish.

Very well said Pacu Mom:thumbsup:

another good example are Dwarf puffers. they're about 1/2 the size of neons but they'll pretty much slowly but surely eat alive just about anything in the same tank as them assuming the other fish doesn't eat them and get poisoned first. Compare that to certain large cyprinids such as carp. they may get huge but they will never approach the meanness of dwarf puffers they'd likely inhale by accident.

how bout this. there are all kinds of tank sizes and fish species. with that said the "monsters" are the cream of the crop that fall under their categories. its not that theres a formula to give you an answer, its just a passionate group of people doing and advancing the hobby in the best direction with the tank size and fish species that fall into their speciality. WE the hobbiests make them all "monsters"
