What makes Rapps stock so good?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Reliability- In shippment and fish being sold
Great stock- alot of fish you won't find many other places (if anywhere)
Large stock- always alot of fish
F0 and such- Carries and collects wild cichlids.
Quality- Always sell the best, if he has any doubts he won't sell it.

The reason I ask is that there is someone who is selling Rapps imported cichlids over here now so I have a chance to buy some.

You probably have to do a group order over there to make it worth it. Because I imagine shipping charges to over there are probably killer, plus I believe you would need someone over there with an import license to bring in the shipment.

I think it is because he has alot of wildcaught stuff and since it's not a walk in place there is more quality care taken. I've never bought anything from him though, so I'm not sure.

One thing though, is that would I rather buy a 1in wild caught midas from him for 12 bucks (and I think there is like a $50 minimum) or would I rather get a regular one for a dollar from my local guys.

If you care about what you have you're better off with the 1 for $12.00. Or the wild/f1/f2. I have never seen a pure midas in a fish store. Ever. So I'm guessing the $1.00 fish is a mutt.

Good thing about Jeff is variety, and knowledge of the particular species/strain you're looking for. There are others just as good but I think Jeff may have a little more connections for wild fish. Ordered from him a couple times and always pleased.

They are already in stock over here, just got the stock list emailed to me.

dunno how he compares to other breeders/importers but he has one of the best selections ive come across. the few fish I have from him are looking quite nice

I definatly dont mind paying more for wildcaught or f1 fish

I've never been anything less than completely satisfied with anything that I've gotten from him.

I think that the best thing that you can say about a fish source is that he says that he sells is what he actually sells. I'm willing to pay for that certainty.

In addition, his shipping is reliably good. Shipping to me is also relatively inexpensive (~$25).

He carries a lot of the less common central and south american fish that I want.

Between Jeff, Julie at Frybabies, Ken Davis (Fishfarm), and my local club (CCA), I'm more than covered...

He's been in it for a good while now & built reputation & nich with the New World cichlids & has shipping down to a science. I bought my F1 Panda Uru at the Atlanta ACA show which are very hard to get & that live. These are the only fishes i bought from him but know many that have & never herd a negative. I give him kudos & respect that success.
Now if he starts venturing in other stuff things can change? I have seen it happen to some good sources that had a good thing going then got bold & started to carry everything else then quality went out the door.
We have a great rep for rift lake cichlids. But I have tried to do salt a couple times to offset the slow times but never seems to work for us. Plus I have been slowly adding New world cichlids but they still do not move too much as I like. Hit & miss. I have had request for the fish because they did not want to order from Rapps a bunch of fish & pay shipping for one fish they really wanted.

my couple cents.

The group order is someones best bet to cut the evergrowing shipping cost.
